So i havent updated my site for a good one month now.. here goes one months worth of stuff in a day! =)
Well i had to make yet another hat (the first one was the octopus hat) but this one had different requirements. First we were assigned an art period/movement and me and Lisa were assigned the “arts and crafts movement” which occurred in the late 19th century.
Like the Garamond font assignment, this project alse had a presentation for the first week. For the second week, we had to make hats that represented the period you were assigned.
To understand my hat, you kinda gotta know a bit about the “arts and crafts movement” itself. Well the main concept of it all was that the industrialization and mass production was becoming so big that it overshadowed the “quality” products. And so a handful of artisan’s created this movement, an attempt to give this “quality” products for a lower price to the people. Ofcourse this had a huge downside which was that it would be impossible to keep a profit margin when selling two products at the same price when one is hand crafted while the other one is created by machines. This is why this movement only lasted for around 30 years or so.
On to my hat, well on one side, it shows the quality crafting which i attempted to replicate the wallpaper style of William Morris, a famous person during this arts period. When you revert the hat, it shows the industrial revolution. Maybe the pictures will help the description, maybe not.. But here they are!
